New on Discovery Channel

This is Nee, who I dreamed up randomly and shall most likely never use again except for sketches. Isn't he adorable?

Long story short, the idea behind him is that he is a young orphan pelagian (I made up a name for mer-sharks) who was taken to Nova Marine Wildlife Preservation and Research Center, which was a primary research center for the newly discovered creatures. They didn’t have any other pelagians of his species in captivity, and the others attacked the injured young creature, so research leader “Sam” Samantha Douglass took care of him. Because of this, she figured out that pelagians have the ability to morph into a two-legged form, have a language of their own and can learn to speak a human language like English, and that at one point in their growth they go from looking about ten to about eighteen in a few months. And she calls him Nee. Yay.

Oh mai, I've been working on this for a while. I sketched it not long after I had the first ideas about him, and decided later to finish the picture. So I scanned it, left it huge as an excuse to draw water, and here it is. This is 25% of full size, and I'll post a detail shot in a sec, because you know you want to see the details.

His design is based off the gorgeous Blacktip Reef Shark. [link] The pose is inspired by some epic pictures of great white sharks leaping out of the water. Freaky awesome stuff there, look it up.
